Designing an Intuitive Q2 Cryptocurrency App for Everyone

Pocketful of Quarters (POQ) is a Web3 gaming platform designed to create an interoperable currency system across multiple games, allowing players to use Quarters as a universal in-game currency. Built on blockchain technology, POQ aims to eliminate walled-garden economies, giving gamers true ownership and flexibility in how they engage with digital assets.

Cryptocurrency adoption remains a major hurdle for mainstream users due to:

🔴 Complexity – Many Web3 apps assume prior blockchain knowledge.

🔴 Technical Barriers – Confusing jargon, multi-step processes, and unfamiliar interfaces intimidate new users.

🔴 Security Concerns – Users fear losing funds due to unclear transaction flows.

POQ wanted a seamless and accessible experience for gamers and non-tech-savvy users alike—something that "even your grandma could use."

User Research & Empathy Mapping

Before wireframing, I conducted user empathy exercises to understand pain points and expectations.

👵 New Users ("Grandma Test") → Wanted clear instructions and minimal steps for transactions.

🎮 Gamers & Crypto Enthusiasts → Desired fast, reward-driven interactions with staking incentives.

💼 Investors & DAO Members → Needed trustworthy UI cues and transparent fee structures.

The app design was made in figma and made responsive to the device and screen size, so folks on a laptop, tablet, and phone had access. It was all designed to accommodate all kinds of users.
